What grades are at your school?  K - 8
What are the hours of operation? Monday- Thursday: 8am-3pm, Friday: 8am-1pm  
What time is early dismissal? School is dismissed at 11:30 am – No hot lunch on these days.
Do you have an after school childcare program? Currently, we do not offer after school care.
Is there hot lunch at OCS everyday?  Currently, we do not offer hot lunch.  

What courses are offered?
  • For students K-8:  OCS offers a standard course load of Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Bible, Computers, Physical Education, and Music.
 What do the students do for music?      
                        Grades K-2 have classroom music
                        Grades 3-5 play the chimes
                        Grades 6-8 play Handbells ($30/per family)
(Music groups perform at various venues and concerts throughout the year.  It is imperative the students are present for all such performances)

 What is the average class size and student/teacher ratio?  Class sizes vary between 8-20 students depending on the class. We average about 10 students per teacher.
Is OCS state-approved? Yes, OCS is approved by the State of Washington and Washington Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, and is also a member of Washington Federation of Independent Schools (WFIS).
Are all of your teachers certified? Yes, our teachers are all certified by Washington State and have a denominational certification through the North American Division Department of Education.
What happens once our child is finished with the 8th grade? Where do they go?
Some options:
  • Auburn Adventist Academy: OCS is church-affiliated with Auburn Adventist Academy, a high-school boarding school.  
  • Local High School: Students also choose to go to local Olympia schools to finish their schooling. Because of our high academic standards, many of them participate in the Running Start program and begin taking college courses before they even graduate high school.
 Do many of your graduates attend college?  Yes, about 85% of our graduates go on to college.
How can I volunteer at the school? We strongly encourage parent participation at OCS.  Areas of participation can include helping with hot lunches, helping teachers at school or with take home prep, participating in Work Bees, driving for field trips and helping out at various school functions or extra-curricular activities (music, sports, movie nights, etc.).
Do I need to fill any paperwork out to volunteer? Yes, for the safety of our students, all volunteers who are working directly with the students (in the class, driving or chaperoning on a field trip), will need to complete a background screening check. Those wishing to volunteer can pick up the pertinent paperwork at the office.
Does OCS have Financial Aid? Yes, we use FACTS online as a 3rd party assessor of financial aid for the families and OCS. You can view information and fill out an application online at www.factstuitionaid.com, or call the school for more information.
